Merry Christmas from AKQA

Agencies are always trying to show the best creativity in the Christmas cards sent to their respective clients. I mean, an agency will always try to be creative, but when creating a Christmas card, you are not selling anything else but yourself. So the decision making process is shortened , giving your craziest ideas more chances to survive the cut.

And here is what AKQA is sending to its clients this year. AKQA is mainly known for its Coca Cola Happiness Factory Digital campaign. One question though: aren't all these microwaves quite dangerous if put together?

Nike - Leave Nothing

Who would have thought that Fight Club's director David Fincher is behind these two rousing and breathtaking ads for Nike's Leave Nothing campaign? Wieden & Kennedy is one of my favorite agencies today and the level found in most of Nike ads is directly influencing my opinion on the subject.

In both ads music plays an important role giving the films a very rythmic style. I particularly like the music used in the second ad (with Steelers' Polamalu and Chargers Tomlinson), a remixed piece of Ennio Moriconne's The good, the bad and the ugly.

Ariston and Volkswagen

I am feeling magnanimous: I will give you two good ads today. Ok, they're already old but I still believe you will enjoy watching them.

The first one was created by Leo Burnett Milan for a new washing machine sold by Indesit: Ariston Aqualtis. People tend to believe it is quite difficult to make an interesting ad out of such a boring product. I guess they are right. This is one of the reasons why I like this ad: taking the product benefit one step further, into emotional territory. This ad won a Cannes Lion in 2006.

The second one was made by the German Grabarz & Partners for the Volkswagen Phaeton. Great work on this very creative idea. I would like to add that the post-production work was made by Deli pictures.
